Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment: Organizations were required to identify workplace hazards and assess the associated risks. This included evaluating potential risks to the health and safety of employees and others affected by their activities.

Legal Compliance: Compliance with applicable occupational health and safety laws and regulations was a fundamental requirement of OHSAS 18001:2007. Organizations needed to demonstrate that they were meeting legal obligations.

Emergency Preparedness and Response: standard emphasized the need for organizations to establish and maintain procedures for responding to emergencies and incidents that could impact the health and safety of employees and others.

Training and Competence: Organizations were expected to ensure that employees had the necessary training, skills, and competence to perform their work safely.
